This years Fishing Experience is scheduled for May 16 at the Old Fishing Hole in Kent (Frager Road, south of West Meeker St).
This free event is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kent and Kent Parks, Recreation and Community Services and it is open to children ages 4 - 14. This "non-competitive," event focuses on fishing techniques, safety around water and environmental stewardship.
Each child is partnered with and experienced volunteer guide for a fishing lesson and opportunities to catch some rainbow trout.
We provide all the fishing equipment so please don't bring your own gear to the event. Space is limited so pre-registration is required by or before Wednesday, May 13. For more information, please call (253) 856-5030
*Registrations are limited to 1 spot per child across all time slots and wait lists. Any duplicates will be removed
The Old Fishing Hole is a, "juvenile only," fishing area monitored by the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife Game Warden and the Kent Police Department for violators. This means that kids 14 and under are the only ones allowed to fish and take part in the harvesting process.
Some things to remember:
- One pole in the water per child.
- Parents may help but the child must be able to control the fishing gear.
- We adhere to the state daily limit of 5 trout whether they are kept or released
