Welcome, and thank you for your interest in this exciting project!
The renovation of this very popular park on Kent's West Hill highlights new and unique play and fitness opportunities for visitors of all ages. This project is funded in part by King County's Youth Sports Facilities Grant and Youth and Amateur Sports Grant programs. Further funding comes from the Parks Capital Projects budget.
When complete, new park amenities will feature a new destination playground, a futsal court and a covered picnic area as well as new outdoor grills and benches. A 300-ft. by 180-ft. natural turf play field will include irrigation and enhanced drainage, while pathway lighting will illuminate the paved walking trail. An upgraded entry and improved accessibility will invite visitors to come enjoy the new space, and the basketball court and fitness machines will continue to appeal to activity seekers.
Public input on preliminary design concepts was gathered in June 2018 at the park and through an online survey. Residents' feedback helped our project management and design team refine the options presented into a final, preferred design concept. Presentations to nearby Neighborhood Councils are planned for early 2020.
