The City of Kent’s Economic and Community Development Department is now accepting online registrations by property owners of all Kent rental properties, including all single-family and multi-family rental units. The deadline to register Kent rental properties is November 1, 2018.

This morning at 6 a.m., a majority of Western Washington members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 (IUOE) voted to strike, causing work stoppages in Kent and around the region. This will impact a number of Kent construction projects.

Despite an early morning fire at Lake Meridian Park on Southeast 272nd, Mayor Dana Ralph said, “The show must go on.” The fire severely damaged the newly-remodeled restroom/lifeguard building and drinking fountains, but the Kent Parks staff is working hard to get the park ready for Splash.

This week construction begins on Morrill Meadows Park and East Hill Park on 248th. During construction, the city will temporarily close off the east portion of Morrill Meadows Park and all of East Hill Park from public access.

Coinciding with the start of the Kent Farmer’s Market, the City of Kent will roll out a temporary pilot program for food trucks, bringing mobile food options to Town Square Plaza in downtown Kent, starting June 2. A ribbon cutting is set for Wednesday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m.
