The City of Kent imposes the business taxes below to fund important City services. These taxes are administered by the Tax Division of the Finance Department.

City taxes are filed separately from taxes that a business must file with the State of Washington. Click on the links below to see additional information for each type of tax.

Most businesses that conduct business activities in Kent, whether located within or outside Kent city limits, are subject to the City’s B&O tax. The tax consists of a gross receipts tax and a square footage tax.

Gross receipts tax based on the gross income derived from engaging in certain business activities.

Admission tax is collected whenever there is a charge for admission to any place or event for entertainment or recreation within the City of Kent limits.

Any person, corporation, association, or organization conducting any gambling activity must pay the gambling tax.
