As life-long residents of Kent, Councilmember Satwinder Kaur (pronounced Seth-win-der Core) and her son have attended schools within the Kent School District, making Satwinder a Kentridge High School graduate. Her son is a seventh grader in middle school. Satwinder attended Highline College where she attained an Associates of Science in Business Administration.
At the University of Washington, Satwinder earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Supply Chain Management and Accounting. She has also earned a Master's of Business Administration in Technology Management and holds certifications in Six Sigma and Lean Management.
Passionate about the community, Satwinder has volunteered with several organizations, including:

• Kent Parks, Green Kent Park Steward
• Greater Kent Historical Society, Board of Trustees
• Living Well Kent, Board of Directors
• Mayor’s Diversity Task Force, City of Renton, Member
• Puget Sound Access, Board member
Other community volunteer stewardships include Adopt-A-Street program, Kent HOPE, NW Harvest, Kent Relay for life, Kent International Festival, Kent Cornucopia Days, Severe Weather Shelter at Kent Lutheran Church, Kent Downtown Partnership and Teamup2Cleanup.
