Kent City Councilmember Les Thomas

Kent City Councilmember Les Thomas, a fourth generation and longtime Kent resident, is serving his fourth term on the Kent City Council. He and his wife Pauline of fifty years owned Blessing’s Jewelers in downtown Kent until they sold the store in 1992. They have four children who are all graduates of Kent-Meridian High School.

Les has a strong history of community involvement that includes:  

  • Kiwanis Club of Kent: former President for two terms
  • Kent Scenic Hill PTA: former member
  • Kent Retail Trade Committee: former member
  • Kent Merchants Association: former member
  • Kent Downtown Partnership: co-authored the by-laws and served on the inaugural Board of Directors as its first secretary for two terms
  • Kent Library Board: Vice Chairman
  • Kent Chamber of Commerce: Board of Directors, served two terms

Les holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Before joining the Kent City Council, he previously served as member of the King County Council and as a legislator in the Washington State House of Representatives.
