Kent City Councilmember Brenda Fincher

A long-time Kent resident, Brenda's son and daughter are both graduates of the Kent School District. Brenda enjoys crafting, traveling, singing in the choir and spending time with family and friends.

Caring deeply about Kent, Brenda has worked in several volunteer and appointed capacities to ensure that all of Kent’s families and residents have the opportunity to succeed:

  • Kent Youth and Family Services: Board President; overseeing a multi-million dollar organization, delivering improved results within tight budgets
  • Kent School District Diversity Task Force: member, and contributing author of the district’s original Diversity Task Force Plan which was nationally recognized
  • King Conservation District Advisory Committee: voting member (alternate)
  • Mental Illness and Drug Dependency Oversight Committee: voting member (alternate)

Brenda’s position at Holy Spirit Parish and her work with the Kent International Festival enables her to work with a broad cross-section of our community. During her career at Equifax, she worked with Kent’s financial community and was nationally recognized three times as Customer Service Consultant of the Year. Brenda also lead the development of Kent’s W.H.O.M.E. women’s homeless shelter, helping the city’s most vulnerable women gain safe shelter and transition to permanent housing. Brenda was president of multiple school PTAs and is a two-time Golden Acorn Award recipient.
