To comply with Washington's Shoreline Management Act, Kent is reviewing and updating its Shoreline Master Program (SMP) to make sure it is consistent with any recent changes to codes, policies, and state law.  The SMP contains rules for what (and how) you can build near certain water bodies in the City, including:

  • Green River
  • Green River Natural Resources Area
  • Panther Lake
  • Lake Meridian
  • Lake Fenwick
  • Springbrook Creek (a segment between S 180th St. and its confluence with Mill Creek)
  • Big Soos Creek (a short segment near Highway 18)

While we're updating the SMP, we want to make sure that it's working for people who use it.  We want to be sure that it's achieving its goals to protect and restore natural resources while accommodating appropriate waterfront uses and public access to shorelines.  By answering a few questions in this survey, you can help us understand how the Shoreline Master Program is or isn't working for you.

First things first - tell us about yourself.
