How are my property taxes going to change?

Will I still pay the same amount in utilities? And will my utility provider change?

All utilities would continue with the current providers except for storm drainage, which would transfer from Kent to Auburn. Water, garbage, power and cable will not be affected by an annexation. Storm drainage and sewer rates would be impacted as shown below.

The storm system within the Bridges will remain as they are today with a mix of public and private facilities. See map for designation of the public and private systems. The City of Auburn will only be responsible for maintaining the public storm system and the HOA is responsible for the private storm system. The City of Auburn will be responsible for inspection of the private storm facilities and may provide correction notices to the HOA for completion of required maintenance on these facilities. This typically is done annually and will potentially impact the HOA’s costs.

Is more development proposed within the Bridges and who will process those permits?

Yes. The original development approved by Kent included tracts of land reserved for future development. Those parcels are located at the SE corner of the original development near the roundabout. You are likely to see the development of more owner-occupied housing at this location, and possibly a modest amount of small- scale commercial. Multifamily rental housing is not a use that is allowed on these tracts of land.

Will schools change? No.

Will Auburn provide parking enforcement? Yes. Parking enforcement in residential neighborhoods is typically complaint based vs. a proactive patrol approach.

Will Auburn take over the wetlands from Kent? No, these will not be the responsibility of Auburn. While it is certain that these areas will remain protected from future development, the cities are currently considering options for who will own and maintain these areas.
