Crime is the primary driver of police activity. The Kent Police Department partners with our community to aggressively fight crime; impartially protect rights; and identify and solve problems. Accredited by the Washington Association of Sheriffs & Police Chiefs, the department includes 195 employees, 141 sworn officers, 52 full-time, and 2 part-time civilian personnel.

Fire Safety

The City contracts with the Kent Regional Fire Authority to provide fire protection services. The RFA provides emergency response services including basic life support, fire suppression, hazardous materials, and technical rescue from 11 fire stations, which staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Advanced Life Support services are provided through King County’s Medic One program.

Emergency Management

Kent's Office of Emergency Management coordinates the city and countywide response to large scale incidents and disasters. Their aim to ensure Kent's preparedness, and rapid response during times of natural or technological hazards.
