What’s going on?

In preparation for the opening of the new bridges at SR 167 and Garrison Creek and the new roadway, the intersection at 98th Avenue South and South 216th Street will be reconfigured to allow for through east/west traffic.

What should I expect?

• There will be intermittent lane closures along 98th Avenue and South 216th Street for the removal of existing lane markings and striping of the new configuration.

• Drivers traveling south on 98th Avenue South will be required to stop at the intersection before continuing south or east at SE 216th Street.

• New signs and other features will be installed to notify motorists of the change.

• Construction will occur during daytime hours.

How long will this take?

Removal and restriping the intersection will be begin Thursday, November 21 and be completed Wednesday, November 27 weather permitting.

How much will this project cost, and where is the money coming from?

This work is included as part of the South 224th Street Project Phase 2. The project construction cost is approximately $15.4 million and is funded from Local Improvement District 363, a Transportation Improvement Board grant, state transportation funds and storm drainage funds.

We appreciate your patience with us as we make these improvements.

Traffic revision at 98th and 216th, effective November 21, 2019. Signage will be in place.
