Kent YMCA and Morrill Meadows Park Set to Open Mid-September
The Kent YMCA will open its doors on September 14 and the Grand Opening of Morrill Meadows Park will be celebrated on September 19.

KENT, Wash., September 3, 2019 – The City of Kent and the Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department are excited to announce the Grand Opening of the Kent YMCA and Morrill Meadows Park. This project is a culmination of years of collaborative work and will offer residents a unique indoor/outdoor recreational experience.
The new Kent YMCA is a 50,000 square-foot facility complete with an aquatics center. The Morrill Meadows Park renovation includes a relocated dog park, new multi-use sport court, new trails and paths, new amphitheater and lawn spaces, as well as a community plaza, complete with fireplace and popular outdoor games, located near the entrance of the YMCA.
“This project represents the collective effort of community members, legislators, volunteers, supporters and our YMCA partners who recognize the need for a state-of-the-art, recreational facility in [Kent],” said Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services Director Julie Parascondola. “We hope the community will join us to celebrate this monumental accomplishment!”
The Kent YMCA will open its doors at 10:00am on Saturday, September 14. In conjunction with the Kent YMCA Grand Opening, attendees will be able to enjoy the Morrill Meadows Park sport court, dog park, trails and community plaza. The Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department will celebrate the Grand Opening of Morrill Meadows Park at 4:00pm on Thursday, September 19.
