Green River Natual Resource Area (GRNRA) Storm Water Force Main Project

GRNRA Storm Force Main Project 2019 

New construction starting soon on West James Street (between 64th Avenue South to Russell Road)

UPDATE, as of 7/08/19: The project has been delayed. It is currently scheduled to begin July 15, 2019.

What’s going on?
This project will install a new, 30-inch-diameter storm water pipe from the channel along 64th Avenue South to the Green River. The project will reduce flood risk in the area by redirecting stormwater from the 64th Avenue and pumping it directly into the Green River.

What should I expect?

• Construction Phase 1:
      o West James Street between 64th Avenue South and Lakeside Boulevard East will be temporarily closed from July 8th to August 30th, 2019.
• Construction Phase 2:
      o Hogan Park north parking lot will be temporarily closed early September after the completion of construction phase one.
• Construction Phase 3:
      o Russell Road will be temporarily closed between Lakeside Boulevard East and Hogan park after the completion of construction phase two.
• Access to the Kent Valley Ice Centre, Hogan Park, and the Green River Trail will be maintained throughout construction. Posted detours will be in place during each construction phase.

How long will this project take?

• Construction is anticipated to start early July 2019 and completed by fall 2019.
• More details will be provided as construction progresses.

How much will this project cost, and where is the money coming from
?
• The construction cost is $1,787,833 and will be funded from the City’s
drainage utility fund.
